Westgate Resorts - Interval International Vacation Ownership Review from Ashburn, Virginia
My husband and I purchased a timeshare Westgate Las Vegas. Within a couple of weeks my husband was injured at work.
I immediately called westgate to inform them and expressed our financial situation. I asked if they could "buy back" the timeshare. I even stared that I did not want my deposit of $2k back, I needed to get out of the loan which is financed by westgate. I was told there was nothing they could do to assist us.
To this day (2 years later) we have not been able to use the timeshare as my husband is still not working. Recently I contacted westgate again and they are not interested in assisting us. I feel cheated and taken advantage of. My daughter was murdered in Las Vegas (2006).
I mentioned to the sales rep that the 5-6 week trial was coming up and we needed somewhere to stay. They used that situation to undermined us and convince us to buy the timeshare by assuring us that we could use the timeshare for our one week stay and then use the "get away" vacation for 4-5 weeks. This was far from the truth. When I tried to book the one week and get away for 4-5 weeks there was no availability.
The trial was continued and scheduled for April 2017, again I tried to book the timeshare and get away weeks and to no surprise there is no availability.
I have tried to sell the time share worth no luck, asked westgate to take the timeshare back with no refund to us and they are not willing to do anything. I am disgusted and extremely unsatisfied with westgate resorts.
Reason of review: Poor customer service.
Location: Ashburn, Virginia

You can rent out your weeks.
You should read all details of your packet and if you find any mislead clause then you will need to write a letter.
who would rent out your weeks when you can get a westgate room for 10% of maintenance fees if you agree to do the tour? scam scam scam.
Las Vegas has several mega-conventions, and most of them are between January & April (such as the Consumer & Electronics Show in January, which attracts 275,000+ visitors). Developers are required to deposit a fixed number of weeks into Interval International's Getaway program.
If Westgate deposited weeks for the trial dates in April, another member may have already reserved those weeks. You may want to consider searching availability for getaway weeks at other Interval International properties in Las Vegas.
You should also contact Westgate directly for availability of developer-owned bonus weeks (this is a separate program from Interval International's program). Some of these programs only become available a few months before occupancy (so you may be searching too soon).
Buying a timeshare is really not a wise investment for most people. However, you cannot blame Westgate for what was a bad decision on your part.
You were not cheated---taken advantage of, perhaps as that is the nature of these things.
At this point, let them foreclose on it and take the "hit" to your credit rating, etc. But, don't blame someone else for your mistake.
Is it their fault westgate lies?
If they are selling a good product, why not just tell the truth?
